How do you best store glucose tablets and dextrose?
Glucose tablets and dextrose are easy to carry and are often used for a quick carbohydrate boost. For people with type 1 diabetes, they are often an essential part of everyday life and something they keep in their pocket, bag, backpack, or jacket.
However, always carrying glucose tablets also presents a practical problem: the packaging and tablets are exposed to the stresses of everyday life.
After a while, the tablets can become crumbly, break, or get dirty. Therefore, storage plays a greater role than one might initially think.
Why do glucose tablets break in your pocket?
Original packaging is practical when the tablets are stored at home in the cupboard, but it’s not always optimal for daily carrying.
In a pocket or bag, the packaging is subjected to pressure and movement from items like mobile phones, keys, and other objects. The packaging can open or get damaged, and the tablets can gradually rub against each other.
The result can be cracked or crumbled tablets and dextrose crumbs in your pocket or bag.
For those who carry glucose tablets every day, it can therefore be practical to use a separate container that protects the tablets.
Protect tablets from dirt and moisture
Glucose tablets should be stored dry and protected. If an opened package is placed directly in a jacket pocket or bag, it can also come into contact with dirt and other contents.
A sealed container provides extra physical protection around the tablets and makes it easier to keep them separate from the rest of the contents in your pocket or bag.
At the same time, remember that a separate container does not change the manufacturer's instructions for how the glucose tablets themselves should be stored. Always follow the storage instructions for the product you are using.

For children, it can also be an advantage to have a clearly identifiable container. A container with the child's name, for example, can be easier to recognise among other things at school or during leisure activities.
Why we developed Glucosezy
The idea behind Glucosezy came from our own everyday life with type 1 diabetes.
We experienced the same simple but irritating problem repeatedly: glucose tablets always had to be carried, but after being in pockets and bags, they easily became crumbly, dirty, or broke.

Flip or Slide – what's the difference?
Glucosezy Flip has an openable lid and is designed to make the tablets easy to access.
Glucosezy Slide has a compact sliding lid for those who prefer a different type of opening.
Both models have the same basic purpose: to protect glucose tablets when you carry them in your daily life.
Therefore, the best model for you primarily depends on which opening mechanism and design you prefer.
A simple everyday problem with a simple solution
For those who only use glucose tablets occasionally, storage may not seem particularly important.
But when the tablets are carried every day, all year round, the small details become significant.
Avoiding crumbs in your pocket, broken tablets, and opened packaging is not a revolutionary change. It's just a small thing that can make everyday life a little easier.
